asker Why don't you update anymore

Hey! Yea I realised I havnt updated in a long long long time. I’ve been pretty busy since the time I graduated 5 months ago.. and I still remember how crazily insane my schedule was during my gradshow preparation.

There’s so many things that has happened in these fast 5 months of my life its unbelievable. All praise be to God for His continuous blessings and mercy on me, for without which, I will never be at a stage where I am today.

Just a quick update on my life if there are still anyone reading my page :

- I started working right after I graduated with this awesome company Klinify, leading the design works there and it’s been an incredible 4 months plus together! Check us out, especially if you’re a doctor or has a best friend who’s one!

- No, I did not do any epic grad trip, but I am planning and saving up for one special one though next year.. hehe :)))

- I don’t know if i’ve mentioned before that I was taking a motorbike licence, but alhamdulillah I have passed and bought myself a Vespa that’s as old as I am! It’s quite beat up, but after all the things that we’ve gone though, I can say that she’s quite a character.

Ok there’s a lot more things I wanna share, but I’ll just keep it for next time InsyaAllah!

Best,
Haikal Aziz

D/Es

We’ll be having a shoot tomorrow and friday for the class for our gradshow later this year, and we’re planning to do a double exposure edit to the photos to give them some extra points on the ‘cool’ scale. :D

These are just practice edits of myself to get the hang of photoshop after not using it for a long long long long time.

asker Hey Haikal, am I right to assume that there's an impending gradtrip with some friends in your near future (also known as the sweet, beautiful time that comes after your final exams in NUS)? If so, I'm extremely curious; what's the destination gonna be?

Hey anon,

I can’t say there’ll be a grad trip for me for sure, but I do have some plans to travel to a couple of places to mark the end of my studying journey. :)

Alhamdulillah, Praise be to Allah for the traveling that He has allowed and blessed me to do during all the summers of my graduate life and I am very satisfied with that blessing.

So for now, for me, there’s another journey for which I have to prepare for so , I’m not planning another 2-3 month long extreme backpacking trip with my friends.. :P Plus, there’s a few commitments that I, that we have that we’ll miss if we travel.

I still love traveling though, I would still want to in the future, maybe with my future wife, InsyaAllah, God Willing, but for now, there’s other responsibilities that I have put for myself and for my future that makes traveling become something rather secondary in my life, or something that is less of a priority. :)

I hope my answer satisfies you, and maybe you were expecting me to say that I’ll be going some unheard place and do awesome things, but Alhamdulillah again, Praise be to Allah, I just wanna say that I feel very contented with my life now and am very grateful to have been able to travel abit these past years..

:D

asker Assalamualaikum! I'm planning on a first solo trip but the thing is I'm undecided where to go! Any recommendations? I love nature. And what are the sites to get reasonable air tickets price?

Waalaikumussalam,

It depends on where you’re traveling from and what are the places that you’re dying to go to! Then you have to consider your budget and how long you plan to spend traveling.

So depending on so many factors, you could be traveling all the way in Europe, to China to South East Asia.

It really depends on what you’re looking for in your travel. Are you looking to find yourself and be mostly in isolation, or you plan to meet lots of new people.. Whoa all this talk about traveling is making me itch! :P

I would say South East Asia is a pretty decent place to travel, with a limited budget and with pretty decent landscapes and nature trails. If you have two  months to travel at least, you could probably take your time and get a bit of each country here in SouthEast Asia, namely Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia. You may wanna try Myanmar, but I havent been there so I can’t say much about it! :P

For air tickets, it depends as well.. Usually for me I would buy tickets directly from the airline instead of getting them through a third party site. So lets say if you find a flight from ZUJI, go to the airlines page and try booking from there, and usually it’s cheaper.

Otherwise, I’ve been using the SkyScanner app recently on my phone and I actually love it! You can find cheap flights, decide on which dates to travel to and back based on the price of the tickets.. But the main thing is to book early!

If you have more questions which I think you would since I’m not answering your questions properly, please just ask, insyaAllah, I will try my best to help and answer to the best of my ability and knowledge.

Wassalam!

A Fable

An anxious Jew, always waiting
for the other shoe to drop,

met a spirited latina who could,
God forbid, lose one leg
and keep dancing on the other.

Vowing to adopt her point of view,
he traded in his tiresome oy vays
for her exuberant olés.

In his guayabera shirt,
he planted red hibiscus by the porch,
worrying endlessly
that they would shrivel in the heat.

One of the few projects I’ve been busy with this semester, especially these couple of weeks! The final crit for it was just last thursday and I’m really glad it’s over!

So very proud of my two girls for their efforts right from the very beginning and I’m especially happy that we were able to end the whole crit well, being the very last group to present!

A couple more weeks to go and the first semester of my last year will be over. InsyaAllah, dua for me! :)

asker How do you saved up so much money to travel? Do you earn money from freelancing or part time work? So jelly you get to travel so many awesome places! (If you have any tips in earning money to travel yeah please tell me :p)

Hey, yea I do some freelancing taking photos for events, weddings and a little graphic design here and there.. It’s not much but enough to go off for a couple of weeks or a month or so.

I would recommend longer trips as i think it would actually be cheaper in a sense..

If anyone of you would like to ask me about trips, travel, and other stuff, you can just pm me off anon and I can reply to you privately! :)
