now where was i..
ok after the ride, we arrived at this area where it looked like a sort of a tourist attraction area. there was a ticket counter, a room where they were having a sort of little presentation of the area and a car park. we asked about the area and where we were at the ticket counter and IT WAS PHONG NHA KE BANG! exactly where we wanted to go! luckily the woman spoke a little english, probably the only one in the entire town. we didnt expect to be there honestly, we just wanted to go somewhere and thank God, somehow, somehow we were there.
we asked about the tickets and stuff then we went in the room where they were having a presentation about phong nha ke bang. of course we didnt understand anything. we went in and just smiled at people who looked at us, ate our wanwan biscuits then went out after 5 minutes of just looking at the pictures on the screen and not understanding anything.
the thing is, there was no other tourist. everyone was vietnamese. there was only one road where we were from, and the other end was where we stayed. we asked the tickets lady if there was any place to stay and she just told us to turn right and just walk straight and so we went.
it was hot, but it was beautiful. next to the roads were just wide green fields and you could see huge karsts formations. the town was so little. the houses we just next to the roads and thats all. and you see parents with kids running around just talking and thats all. it was really nice.
and after walking for about 10 minutes maybe we saw this guest house. it was like a huge bungalow. we found the owner and managed to get a room for 4 of us for quite cheap and the transaction was done with our hands and wrote down the price on paper since both parties didnt understand each other. we wrote down our price after much negotiation and he gave a thumbs up, then he gave us our key and we went up.
i think he was a bit drunk too at the time.. hahah anyway, the room was nice, there was a queen sized bed and 2 singles, a tv and a wardrobe and a toilet. it wasnt super clean or anything but we werent complaining. we were just happy to get a place to stay man and it just felt so good to know that after all that uncertainty you have a place to stay for a night or two.
we werent decided how long we were gonna stay there. it would depend on the food really, and the activities we could do. so we rested for awhile and went back to the ticket counter and asked for what we could do.
